Think about your favorite band. You could probably create an iTunes playlist (or a mix CD) of the perfect set of songs by that band, right? But could you design a setlist for one of the band's actual live shows -- a set that not only shows off your encyclopedic knowledge of the band's catalog, but also satisfies an audience that came to hear the songs they know and love?
Brian Farias is a 46-year-old guy from Rhode Island who took on that challenge: He created the entire setlist for a Pearl Jam show in Amsterdam. Thanks to his longtime membership in the Ten Club (the PJ fan club,) Brian was picked by Pearl Jam to fly to Amsterdam, check out a couple of shows, meet the band, and submit a setlist for one of the concerts.
As Brian said, "It was like programming your iPod and then Pearl Jam show up in your yard and play it for you."
The whole story is in Rolling Stone.
