Best Songs To Drive To

Auto Trader magazine has compiled the Greatest Driving Songs of All Time.

Says Auto Trader's Nathan Coe, "We all have a favorite driving song and it's interesting to note that although Auto Trader's customers are from all age groups, it is the hits from the 1970s, with four out of the Top 6, that dominate, with only one recent hit making it into the Top 10. Maybe they just don't make them like they used to anymore."

And the list is:

1) "Sultans of Swing" - Dire Straits
2) "We Will Rock You" - Queen
3) "Another One Bites the Dust" - Queen
4) "Good Vibrations" - Beach Boys
5) "Go Your Own Way" - Fleetwood Mac
6) "All Right Now" - Free
7) "Born in the U.S.A." - Bruce Springsteen
8) "Rolling in the Deep" - Adele
9) "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" - Marvin Gaye
10) "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" - Rolling Stones

I think the Fabulous Thunderbirds got snubbed. Have you driven to Tuff Enough?! So great. What else is missing?

#1 agreed!
I never don't want to hear Sultans of Swing. I'd add Santana's Smooth to my favorite drop-top in Seattle list.

Highway Star by Deep Purple
But of course! I remember this one keeping me awake (and saving my bacon) late one night, while travelling from college to my co-op job at McDonnell-Douglas in St Louis. I had a cassette deck strapped to my 75 Honda 400F gas tank, and some flat headphones shoved into my Bell helmet. Cranked this song so loud I had to watch the tach to keep from overreving as I went through the gears, merging back on the freeway!
