Whenever there's a story about a celebrity selling or auctioning a car, I'm reminded on the
Seinfeld episode when George bought "Jon Voight's car." Jerry pulls "Jon Voight's pencil" out of the glove box (
clip here because, well, why not?) Too bad it was John Voight's car, not Jon's.
Next week, someone can really say they bought Freddie Mercury's car, however... and they could pull Freddie Mercury's tissues out of the glove box. The 1974 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow gets auctioned next Saturday in Birmingham, England. It's estimated to go for anywhere from $14,000 to $17,000.
Mercury bought the car in 1979 and drove it until his death in 1991. It's in good condition and, yes, has a box of tissues in the glove box that the family was too upset to remove.
