Jon Stewart is taking some time off from the “Daily Show” to direct his first film. According to USA Today the project is called “Rosewater”, an adaptation of reporter Maziar Bahari's memoir published in 2011.
It tells the story of Bahari's travels to Iran in June 2009 to cover the country's presidential elections for the BBC. Instead of reporting he was held in an Iranian prison for 118 days and subjected to brutal interrogations by a man he knew only by his scent — rosewater.
Bahari was accused of being a spy, and one of the pieces of "evidence" used against him was an appearance he made on "The Daily Show".
The hiatus will take place this summer and “Daily Show'” regular John Oliver will fill in.
If you could leave your job for three months to work on something you were passionate about, what would it be?
Let’s just suspend reality and say it was possible. :)
