I love the days I get to work and find out about not one, but two, new albums from some of my favorites.
First, new music from The Avett Brothers! The Carpenter will be out September 11th. It's produced by Rick Rubin and we'll have new music from them sometime next month... so I'll post it when we get it!
Then, October 2nd brings new music from Heart and new Van Morrison! Born To Sing: No Plan B is the name of the forthcoming project and among the 10 songs on the disc are "Open the Door (To Your Heart)," "Going Down to Monte Carlo," "Born to Sing," "End of the Rainbow," "Close Enough For Jazz" and "Mystic of the East."
Plus, we already know about new DMB on the way... looks like fall is shaping up to be good for listening!
Yoko Ono has recorded an album with Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore. Title YokoKimThurston, it will contain six songs, including a 14-minute single. I thought the single was out already, but it looks like it's not online yet. Proceeds from the single benefit a charity helping with the Japanese tsunami relief effort.
Sara Watkins is celebrating a birthday today, and that seems like reason enough to post her new video for the song "Take Up Your Spade." The album, Sun Midnight Sun, came out a few weeks ago and it's great! If you like thissong, I recommend the album.
