Black Friday has seen stores open earlier and earlier, but I think they've taken things a little too far this year. Target, WalMart, Toyrs R Us and more are opening their doors at 8pm on Thanksgiving night! Can we really not wait a few more hours to get our hands on that discounted TV? It takes away from the whole meaning of Thanksgiving - to spend time with family and be thankful for what you have. Not to mention those that will have to go to work on Thursday evening instead of waiting until Friday morning like in the past. Maybe I take this too personally - I have family members who have started leaving our celebration early to get sleep before their 3am Black Friday call times... I can only imagine this year, they'll barely make it through dessert.
One Target employee is taking a stand and has started an online petition to make the store move its early opening. The petition already has nearly 200,000 signatures, but somehow I doubt it will make a difference, this year at least.
Are you a Black Friday shopper? How early is too early for stores to open?
